Government Relations
Since the inception of NTA, government relations activities have played a central role in the organization. As the travel and tourism industry has continued to grow and enter every facet of the world economy government has become increasingly involved at every level.
NTA focuses its government relation's efforts on legislation and regulations enacted at the federal, state/provincial and local level. Staff also monitors legislative activities and regulatory actions of the federal bureaucracy. Government relation's activities are conducted to ensure that NTA members' voices are heard on all governmental levels.
NTA uses four primary entities to ensure that the entire gamut of government relation's activities are covered. Following is a brief description of each division:

GAN: The Grassroots Action Network consists of NTA members that are concerned about how governmental measures are impacting their businesses. Ganners often contact their legislators on impending legislation after consultations with NTA staff.

NTA Industry & Government Relations Department: The department consists of the professional staff that handles the day-to-day government relations endeavors. Staff constantly monitors legislation on all levels of government and disseminates this information to the NTA membership. This is your first stop for any government relations questions.

NTA Legislative Team: Steve Richer, CTP, and former Congressman Jim Santini serve as NTA's Legislative Team in Washington, DC. They oversee federal issues and work very closely with our allied association and partners.

Public Affairs Committee: The Public Affairs Committee determines the annual priority issues and provides general direction for government relations endeavors. The committee is composed of NTA members who have an acute interest and knowledge.
